A revised version of the federal rule governing Human Subjects Research (i.e. the Common Rule) is currently scheduled to go into effect on January 19, 2018. All studies approved on or after the effective date must comply with the new rule. For new studies submitted after the effective date and for studies where the initial IRB review is in progress (but not completed) as of the effective date the new rule may require consent form or other changes. The Homewood IRB office will assist study teams in working through any change required by implementation of the new rule. More information about the changes generated by the new rule will be posted in January. Please check the IRB’s website for updates, including information about forthcoming training sessions.
